How these calculators work
- All calculations use a standard reducing‑balance amortisation with monthly compounding (the basis lenders price against).
- Where a balloon or residual is set, it is treated as a lump sum due at the end of the term; regular repayments don't amortise it.
- Fees, charges and GST treatment are excluded from the repayment number; we say so on each calculator.
- Results are estimates. Your actual rate, repayment and total cost depend on lender assessment of your specific application.

When to use each calculator

- Comparing broker quotes? If a broker has quoted a "flat rate", the Flat Rate to APR Converter reveals the equivalent reducing‑balance APR — usually substantially higher than the flat rate suggests.
Limitations
- No fees or charges. Establishment fees, monthly admin fees, PPSR registration and similar charges are excluded. Add them separately when comparing offers.
- No GST timing. Different structures claim GST at different times (up front vs over the term). We don't model that in‑calculator.
- No tax effects. Depreciation, interest deductibility and lease‑payment deductions affect after‑tax cost but depend on your tax position.
- Pricing is indicative. Lender pricing depends on your application — profile, credit, asset, deposit, documentation.
